Brigadoon of Bundanoon 2019

April 9, 2019

Congratulations to the NSW Highland Cattle Breeders group who have done it again and in style.

This Highland Gathering is a great event, which caters to all with 127 different stalls, 22 clan stalls, 24 bagpipe bands up to 15000 visitors and the very exciting Highland Heavyweight Event Championships.

As well as the professionals, everyone is able to join in with games open to the public, such as ‘wee heavy weight’ for preschoolers, egg throwing, Fergie  stones, Brigaball, hay toss, water toss, and a kilted dash for gentleman, ladies, lads and lassies ( you just need to wear an item of tartan clothing!)

Brigadoon of Bundanoon 2019 was a special event for our family.  We have supported this event with the help of our two children since 2005.  In recent years the NSW Breeders Group of Highland Cattle has taken over organising the display with a fabulous stall run by the enthusiastic younger ladies of the group.  Ennerdale have only missed attending while being based overseas with work.    2019 was special year as the third generation of Shepherds attended the event.  Born with a congenital heart defect and having had open heart surgery at 4 months old, our little grandson at only 4 weeks post op attended the event with us and his Mum traveling all the way from the central coast.  It was such a treat and certainly added to the weekend.

You can imagine how many Scottish folk thrive on this event, and the fact they get to see a Scottish Highland Cow is a huge thrill to many, so we hope to continue to support this event and bring more NSW Highland Cattle members on board, as many hands makes for lighter work for all involved.
